Atlanta: President Joe Biden on Tuesday tried to revive the reform of US election rights and against the new state law which critics hampered black and Hispanic voters when his Democrats face the chances of Congress before the General Election.
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris fly to the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr.
From Atlanta, where they will talk at Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College, two black schools historically.
In a strong moment of symbolism before the speech, Biden and Harris stopped and lowered their heads before the flowers on the King Grave site when the king’s family member stood up.
The king was killed by a murderer in 1968.
“Take care of faith,” he told reporters when asked what the message was disappointed because he had not done more about the voting rights to date.
He and Harris then ducked into a place of worship of the former king, the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Democrats offend themselves for difficult 2022 congress elections that can strip their majority and opportunities to change federal vote laws.
Many civil rights activists say Biden should do more during his first year in the office to encourage reform, and some, including Stacey Abrams Georgia, will not attend his speech.
Biden told reporters at the White House on Tuesday that he spoke with Abrams and even though there was a mix-up schedule, they “on the same page.” Speech will be a second Biden in a few weeks of warning about the health of democracy in the United States.
On January 6, he targeted the former president of President Donald Trump’s “Lie Network” about the 2020 elections, blaming his extension of the repent of the deadly attack on Capitol A.S.
Trump continues to say that the 2020 election was stolen by Democrats Biden through voter fraud, despite telling and investigations that did not find evidence to support claims.
Since then, Republical lawmakers in 19 states have passed dozens of laws which make it more difficult to choose.
The critics say these steps disproportionately affect the minority.
Biden wants to build public support for the proposed reform to strengthen voting rights, especially the freedom to choose laws and laws for the progress of voting rights John Lewis.
Both of them have so far withered under the opposition from the Republican Party, which argue that they will charge national standards that are questioned about local elections.
“This is one of the moments that defines.
Really,” Biden told reporters when he left Washington.
“The risk is to make sure people understand how important this is.” In Atlanta, he plans to ask Americans, and especially MPs of Parliament A., will they “choose democracy for autocracy, light shadow, justice for injustice?,” According to the prepared comments provided by the White House.
“I will defend your right to choose and our democracy against all foreign and domestic enemies,” he planned to say.
The Republican Minority Leader Senate Mitch McConnell on Monday said the Democrats promoted the idea that “anti-voting plots” swept America.
“It’s not there,” he said.
Biden will join Atlanta by Bernice King and Martin Luther King III, two children of the leaders of the civil rights murdered, and the top civil rights activists, including Pastor Jesse Jackson, Rev.
Al Sharpton, President of the President of President Derrick Johnson and National League League Morial Marc.
Some advocacy groups are frustrated voting rights with a lack of progress boycotting the President’s visit.
April England-Albright, Director of Laws for important black voters in Atlanta, said the group told Biden, “We don’t need a photo op.” Representatives for Abrams could not be contacted immediately for comments.
He supports Biden’s efforts in a post on Twitter on Monday.
