WASHINGTON: The US government on Friday diverted orders of crucial vaccine production provides, which enables India to earn over 20 million extra doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines.
The data was shared with Acting Assistant Secretary, Bureau of South & Central Asian Affairs, Dean Thompson.
“We have redirected among our orders of crucial vaccine production provides, which allows India to generate over 20 million extra doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine,” explained Dean Thompson.
In addition, he advised that US has given over USD 500 million in Covid-19 aid supplies for India to battle against the outbreak.
“In general, the US government, state governments, US businesses, and private citizens also have supplied over USD 500 million in Covid-19 relief supplies into India,” said that the Acting Assistant Secretary.
External affairs minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Friday expressed gratitude to United States for powerful support and solidarity throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
The ministry’s counterpart, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the 2 nations were united in handling the Covid-19 pandemic collectively.
Before, the White House had declared that US would soon be delivering 60 million doses of this AstraZeneca vaccine into other states beginning from June 2021.
