KABUL: The top official of the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan said that the US should not interfere with the torn state affairs, adding that he was able to make decisions independently, the media reported.
The statement was made by Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Taliban, while he talked about a meeting on Sunday, Report Tolo News.
Regarding the withdrawal of US troops in August which led to the Taliban took control of the country, Stanekzai said that “American soldiers fled from Afghanistan in the dark night”.
He said that the country was independent now and that the last four months have become the first time in four decades where Afghans make decisions independently.
“The enemy,” he said, should not think that Afghanistan weakened by a 40-year war because it had the ability to fight again 40 years if necessary.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs admitted that hundreds of Afghans left the country for Iran every day on economic problems and that most of them failed to cross the border or lose their lives on the way.
He asked the neighboring Afghanistan to help the country, open their borders with refugees and facilitate visa norms.
Stanikzai said that Afghanistan women and girls have the right to work and education, but add that Afghan culture is different from the west.
He acknowledged that solidarity among people in the country and building relationships with world countries was two major challenges in front of the Islamic Emirates.
Also handling the meeting, Anas Haqqani, also a member of the Taliban government, said “the world does not want Afghans to be independent”, Tolo News reports.
