WASHINGTON: The snowstorm ended but the tribulation of the trip did not: the driver on the main highway outside the Washington reported Tuesday they had been stuck in their car for almost a day.
One of the frustrated tourists was the US senator from Virginia, the Kaine team, which was stranded to drive back to Washington as the interstate 95 was clogged with a snow and spun-out car, and was finally closed due to monster snowfall Monday.
“I started a normal 2 hour trip to DC at 1pm yesterday.
19 hours later, I still haven’t been near Capitol,” Kaine Tweeted Tuesday Morning.
“My office is related to @vadot to see how we can help other Virginians in this situation,” he said, referring to the Ministry of Transportation.
“Please keep everything safe.” Other drivers told the local TV station Wusa9 that he left his house about 90 minutes south of Washington when the power came out and began driving north, and did not know about the nightmare of the highway until he was trapped in it.
“I’m fine, I’m tired,” said the driver, whose name was not given.
“I didn’t expect to get up at this hour, and I didn’t expect to be outside in the snow in Gridlock traffic …
all things considered, everything could be worse.” Hurricane Monday packed an unexpected fierce blow and seemed to have arrested many of the capital city, dropped US President Joe Biden in the first air force and throwing up to nine inches (23 centimeters) snow in Washington – and more parts of Virginia.
This further transported the hit with flight cancellations and recording surge in Covid’s case.
The Department of Transportation Virginia said he had never seen chaos at Interstate 95, although it did not provide an estimate of how many drivers were affected.
“We know that many travelers have been stuck in the Interstate 95 in our region for an extraordinary period of time during the last 24 hours, in some cases since Monday morning,” said Department of Engineering Marcie Parker.
“It’s never before, and we keep moving firmly stop the truck to make progress towards recovering the path.”
