New Delhi: Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Wednesday held extensive talks that covered the situation in Afghanistan, cooperation under the Quad framework and various other problems.
Sherman arrived here on Tuesday on a three-day visit, almost two weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with US President Joe Biden in Washington.
“They discussed the issues of regional interests, especially the situation that developed in Afghanistan, as well as developments in the United Nations.
Reaffirming the commitment to the indo-Pacific region that was free, open and inclusive, including through sustainable cooperation under the quad,” a spokesman said MEA Arindam Bagchi tweeted after Shringla-Sherman talks.
He said both parties took stock of bilateral problems ranging from Covid-19, security and defense, energy, climate and clean energy and relations of people-to-people.
“The Secretary of Foreign Affairs @Harshvshringla held a consultation with the Deputy Secretary of the State of the US @deputysecstate to look forward to a strategic partnership for Global Good as imagined by PM @Narendramodi and @Potus @Jeebiden,” Bagchi said in another tweet.
