US Supreme Court Stephen Bryer said he had not yet decided to retire

WASHINGTON: Liberal justice Stephen Breyer, in the 82 oldest members of the US Supreme Court, said he had not yet decided whether to retire, notify CNN in an interview published on Thursday his health and the future of the court was the main factor.
Some liberal activists have urged Bryer to retire soon so President Joe Biden can appoint a younger successor that can serve for decades in a lifetime.
Biden Democrats are narrowly controlling the US Senate, which has the power of confirmation for nominees to federal justice.
Asked whether he had decided whether to retreat, Breyer told CNN in an interview conducted on Wednesday, “No.” Bryer, speaking of his summer retreat at Plainfield, New Hampshire, quoted two major considerations.
“Especially, of course, health,” Bryer said.
“Second, court.” Bryer, who has served as justice since 1994 and will be August 83, remains a mother about his plan because the court completes the last nine months of this month.
He said in April speech, it was important for the judge not to be driven by political considerations.
The next court term is open in October.
Republicans tried to regain control of the Senate in the 2022 congress election Ginsburg.
If Biden gets the opportunity to call the successor of Breyer, it will not change the ideological balance of the court.
Biden has promised to nominate a black woman to fill the Supreme Court, the first historic job.
During the last time of the court, Bryer wrote the June 17 verdict which refused the Republican offer to cancel Obamacare Healthcare law and the June 23 decision in the case of a large free speech involving a secondary school cheerleader.
Some Democrats are worried that Bryer does not retire while Democrats control the Senate, the Republican Party can block the confirmation of success or future republican president can mention his replacement and shift the court further to the right.
The leader of the Senate of the Republic of Mitch McConnell said he would aim to block candidates Biden in 2024, and could raise problems if the Supreme Court vacancy opened in 2023, said last month: “Well, we have to wait and see what happens.”
