WASHINGTON: The Ministry of Justice launched the probe that extends to the police in Phoenix to check whether the officers have used excessive forces and abusing people who experience homeless.
Attorney General Merrick Garland announced an investigation into the city of Phoenix and the Phoenix Police Department on Thursday.
The probe will also check whether the police are involved in the practice of discriminatory police and will work to determine whether officers reply to people involved in the activities of the first protected amendment, he said.
New investigations are known as “patterns or practices” – check whether there is a pattern or practice of the police that is not constitutional or violating the law – and generally is a sweeping review of all police departments.
The Assistant Attorney General of Clarken said the researchers would review the video of the body, together With training material and other records.
He said the Ministry of Justice spoke with official Phoenix officials and they had expressed support for the investigation.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Justice announced it opened a question with a police force in Minneapolis, after the death of George Floyd, and in Louisville , Kentucky, after the death of Breonna Taylor.
