KABUL: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that President Vladimir Putin told American partners Joe Biden at the Geneva summit that the country opposed US efforts to form an agreement with Central Asian countries to use the US military in their territory, reported tolonews.
The Foreign Minister claimed that the US continued efforts to build a military base in neighboring Afghanistan, reported the news channel quoting his interview with Russian television.
Proposals have been sent to Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, however, countries reject the proposal, according to Tolonews.
“It was very aware of America’s intrusion, I did not rule out that they would urge for the same purpose of the different side.
I have heard that they have tried to persuade India to give the Pentagon several opportunities in the Indian region,” the news channel quoted Lavrov.
Meanwhile, various reactions emerged on US proposals for the spread of troops.
“Of course, the base will suppress Al Qaeda and Daesh, but the disaster will be with Afghanistan, (Afghanistan will suffer),” ToloNews quote the head of the Afghan National Solidarity Movement, Sayed Ishaq Gailani said.
“Forming a military base will affect the security of the region,” said the news quoted the former diplomat, said Shukria Barekzai.
