Use green hydrogen to make steel too: Gadkari

Nagpur: The Minister of Transportation Union Nitin Gadkari, who has advocated for the use of hydrogen green to run vehicles other than other alternative fuels, also suggesting its use in steel production.
The Minister speaks on a function held by Manganese Ore India Limited (moil) on Sunday.
Mini Ratna PSU triggered a new vertical shaft in one of its mines in Nagpur Regency.
The Steel Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh was also present.
Gadkari has embarrassed the idea of separating hydrogen and oxygen from water to use it as fuel.
Just as it can replace petroleum in vehicles, green hydrogen can also be used as a substitute for coking coal in making steel, he said.
Cooking Coal is largely imported for the Manganese domestic steel industry also makes steel making and used to strengthen metals.
The Steel Minister also agreed, said that in theory maybe.
It took time for the technique to be fully adopted, he said.
Singh said that currently the country is very dependent on coal coal imports.
Gadkari also crashes into environmental lovers to oppose mining projects by increasing problems related to ecology.
“How will the country develop without it? Even today more than 45 lakh mtan must be imported in the country even when there is a reserve in this country,” he said.
“Even I am a strong champion of green fuel such as ethanol, bio-diesel or CNG.
But the country’s development must also go side by side,” Minister said.
Gadkari said when he led the infrastructure permit committee, he would ensure that there was no traffic jam.
The steel minister also stressed the need for an increase in production.
At present, more than half of the state’s manganese requirements must be imported.
Steel production has been planned to be taken by more than 300 million MT for years under the 2017 National Steel Policy.
At present it is 110 million MT, Singh said.
He also said the government must adopt a convincing approach while dealing with locals in the mining area.
“This deposit is especially located in the tribal area.
If there is an opposition by the locals, the win-win solution must be lowered.
We are democracy and cannot just bulldoze upon them,” he said.
Singh also said that steel consumption per capital was on the bottom side.
In urban areas it was 74kg while it was around 15kg in the rural part.
