Uthra Murder Case: Sooraj S Kumar is guilty; Tomorrow’s punishment

KOLLAM: The 6th additional court session here on Monday has found Kumar Sooraj guilty in the case of sensational Uthra murder.
Sooraj, the main accusation, was the husband of Uthra who was found dead at his house on May 7, 2020, after being bitten by the cobra.
Judge M Manoj said in the verdict that the defendant was found guilty under Section 307 (murder efforts), 302 (murder), 328 (poisoning) and 201 (destruction of evidence) from the Criminal Procedure.
The court said all charges of prosecution with the defendant were proven without doubt.
This case was then posted to October 13 because he sent a sentence.
After reading the verdict, the judge asked the accusation to approach him and told him that all the crimes accused him was proven and asked him whether he had something to tell the court about punishment to be given to him.
Sooraj said that he had parents and sisters at home and nothing else could say.
Special Public Prosecutor G Mohanraj told the court that the death penalty must be given so as to provide a strong message to the community.
He showed that it was one of the rarest cases he had seen the country.
The prosecution of building a case on a strong foundation so that the serious act of Sooraj did not parallel because he was planning another attempt to kill the victim, his wife and mother, even when he shouted in pain in the hospital bed in Thriuvalla following the viper bite.

Initially, they did not have suspicion about Sooraj.
But SOORAJ’s insensitive behavior as soon as Uthra’s death made his parents suspicious, and they filed a complaint with Rural Collam Sp Harisankar.
From there, the case took a different turn.
State intelligence has also requested overall supervision.
Because this case was transferred to the branch of the District Crime, the team led by DSP a Ashokan began a scientific investigation, overriding the conclusion of the local police.
The prosecution produced 87 witnesses, 288 documents, and 40 proof of material.
The findings in the Dummy test also become important.
Chavarukavu Suresh, The Snake Charmer handed over Cobra to Sooraj and was charged as another accusation in this case, then became approver.
Kollam Rural SP Ravi, Ashokan Investigative Officer, Branch of Rural Crime DSP Ashok Kumar, Kollam ACP Vijayakumar, DCRB City ACP Pratheeep Kumar, Thenmala Range Forest Officer Jayan, Snake Expert Vava Suresh is present in court.
In addition to the Special Public Prosecutor G Mohanraj, Advocate K Gopeesh Kumar, CS Sunilkumar, a suggestion is also present.
Advocate Jitha S Nair appeared for the defendant.
