PANAJI: The days before the assembly election, the candidates against it for Panaji have divided it not only 22,408 voters constituency but also encourage the distribution of party loyalty among politicians.
In the heat and dust campaign, party workers are now rally, not behind party symbols, but behind candidates on both sides of the fault line.
Many voter entertainment and political analyst, middle level politicians now work against the interests of the party in Panaji and Taleigao.
The presence of the former Defense Minister Mansar Parragar, Utpal in the polls had split a party loyalty wide open, withdrawing support from the BJP and Congress camp.
The main factor behind this trend is the Panaji candidate BJP Actanasio Monerate, known as Babush.
Utpal fights as an independent of the Panaji Constituency where it rejects tickets by BJP.
Former company member of Panaji City (PKC) Daino da Cruz, who left BJP and joined the Congress in April last year, openly working with Utpal Parragar leaving the Gomes and Dry Congress candidate in Panaji.
The former Panaji Mayor Uday Madkkaikar, a one-time loyalist of Babush, has thrown out not only monstrat but his new love for Congress too and now helps utpal.
Interestingly, Madkkaikar took Congress banners every time he traveled Taleigao to campaign for Congress candidates Tony Rodrigues.
Madkkaikar is a suction for Panaji and upset chair with Congress because it is rejected.
The same applies to the former Panaji Mayor Surendra Furtado.
Furtado, a congressional loyalist who uses an extraordinary influence at Campal and Miramar, has disguised, refusing to campaign for Gomes in Panaji.
The source said that Furtado had called his supporters, asking them to lose weight behind BJP.
“There is no better time for Congress to win Panaji, but our people at Congress are known for injustice,” said a congressional official.
“When you say that you belong to a party, there are several principles.
Loyalty means that the party feels that certain people are the right candidates, workers need to put aside differences and return party candidates,” said former President BJP Mandal.
The battle of the election has also seen even Staunch BJP Karaktas spilling their party affiliation.
Former President of BJP Panaji Mandal Deepak Mhapeskar, Vaidhi rose and several others called Utpal, in an open disobedience of BJP brass.
“Everyone who supports Utpal Parragar has a personal ego problem.
They have guarded the gun on his shoulder and shot Babush,” said a political commentator.
Former BJP President Talelyiga Mandal DataPrasad rose also extended his support to Utpal.
