Lucknow: The Anti-Terrorist Squad Uttar Pradesh claimed to have arrested suspected terror during search operations in the Kristori area on the outskirts of Lucknow on Sunday.
At least two dozen ATS command and around 50 police personnel were deployed at Sibtey Vihar Colony along with two units of bomb disposal forces (BDS) and dog squad.
Inspector General of Police, ATS, GK Goswamy, said that a suspect had been arrested and explosive that was very improvised to recover from his ownership.
“Initial investigations show that he has come to target several leaders throughout the country,” IG said.
The officer also said that the search was made to track other feet of the suspect.
Sources who knew the probe revealed that the suspect belonged to Al-Qaeda’s clothes but senior officials did not deny or admit it.
The entire locality was released and residents were asked to empty the place for several hours.
ATS has also detained several local residents who are interrogated.
