Prayagraj: Calling it solely or tireless effort from Chennai-based NGOs, Udavum Karangal, a 53-year-old woman, Kusum Yadav, is reunited with her family in the neighboring district of Kaushambi after more than 25 years.
Kusum, who was under extreme depression, had escaped from Baserhi his village and was found by this NGO in Tambaram who was far away in Tamil Nadu.
For more than 25 years since 1996, he was under the protection of this NGO.
A few years ago, he was reluctant to talk about the name of his village after that the Chairman of the NGO launched a search for all villages with Basethi’s name.
After the marathon effort, he finally found the siblings of the kusum and reunited himself with his family on January 19.
Kusum, who has seven siblings, six brothers and sisters, married a local in the early 20s but unfortunately her husband died after a few months of marriage.
The second marriage was Kusum was with Bhailal, a worker at a steel factory in Pune.
However, the happiness of the marriage life was short-lived because I was often harassed physically by her husband.
Offended by recurring torture, he returned to his parents but under depression, he developed a psychiatric problem and finally escaped his house.
“Kusum was found by Well-Wisher from Udavum Karangal in Tambaram lying on the road and the teasing people.
He was handed over to us in January 1996 and until now he had been maintained, given psychiatric care and now under normal conditions,” said Pappa S Vidyakar , Founder NGO.
He further told Ti that Kusum responded well for psychiatric care and after recovering, involved in various activities at the Techabilitation house in Thiruverkadu.
However, he was always reluctant to divulge the details of his original place and said he did not want to go back.
“After recurring counseling, he began to provide unclear details such as his village name and his brothers’ names.

NGOs arranged the WhatsApp video call between Kusum and his family and he was very happy.
