Muzaffarnagar: Pollution Control Agency Uttar Pradesh has imposed a fine of Rs 7.12 Lakh at a factory that produces chemical compounds for allegedly polluting the air in the Shamli district, officials said on Wednesday.
The factory, located on Panipat road in Shamli, produces compounds such as iron sulfate powder and magnesium sulfate, among others.
It was slapped with a fine of Rs 7,12,500 after being found guilty of emitting dangerous gases excessively to the specified limit, the Ankit Singh pollution control board said.
He said the action was part of the hard action against the industry that was being operated to violate the rules and regulations set by the authorities to examine pollution.
Singh said the Board swung actions after the direction of the new commission was formed for air quality management in the national capital area and side by side, the most powerful body was formed for the purpose of protecting and improving air quality in Delhi and the surrounding area.
