LUCKNOW: All of districts influenced by Rohini, Sharda, Ghagra and Rapti are placed on high alert to flooding as a result of heavy to medium rainfall in Nepal and many districts in UP.
On Friday, Rohini was flowing above danger mark while Sharda, Ghagra and Rapti were near danger markers and showing an increasing trend as a result of rain.
Relief Commissioner Ranvir Prasad issued a note to administrations of both Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shrawasti, Balrampur, Maharajganj, Deoria, Basti, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ballia, Barabanki, Sitapur and Mau, warning of the possibility of flooding in the forthcoming days.
He said according to remote sensing pictures from June 14, it had been found that 28,581 hectare region in Maharajganj and also 2,674 hectare at Siddharthnagar are below water.
“We’re in contact National Remote Sensing Centre at Hyderabad and receiving daily pictures for inland regions,” he explained.
