NOIDA: The authorities in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida on Wednesday detained a 30-year-old female’s live-in spouse within allegations of rape and coercing her into changing her faith for union, officials explained.
The accused, that has been detained by the officers of this Bisrakh police channel, was reserved under the Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Ordinance, 2020,” amongst others, they stated.
“Accused Murtaza alias Mritunjay (33) is a native of Moradabad district in western UP and was residing in a rented accommodation in Bisrakh region.
The accused and the complainant have been at an live-in connection,” a police spokesperson said.
“If the girl insisted him marriage, the man forced her to get spiritual conversion and she approached the authorities with allegations of rape and forced conversion effort,” the spokesperson said.
The FIR, hinting in the Bisrakh police station, additionally invokes provisions under Indian Penal Code sections 323 (causing harm ), 504 (deliberate insult to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), 376 (rape), 406 (criminal breach of trust), the authorities said.
