Mirzapur: A man allegedly punished by a group of people in Mirzapur because he was suspected of being a thief, the police said on Saturday.
At the beginning of the day, the police were told of an unknown body lying in Krishnapuri’s colony which fell under the Katra police station area, said Inspector Katra Swinath.
During the investigation, the police found that two suspected thieves had entered the area on Friday night.
Locals captured one of them and beat him to death, the inspector said, adding them to escape, leaving his body in place.
The police have sent the body to postmortem.
Further investigation is taking place, they said.
