PRAYAGRAJ: A joint group of Fatehpur district government officials on Sunday day conducted the last rites of six unidentified bodies located around the banks of the Ganga on Unnao-Fatehpur boundary in Uttar Pradesh earlier in the afternoon.
A five-member group of officials carried out a five-hour hunt between Adampur and Bhitaura ghats on Monday but didn’t find greater bodies.
Inspector general of police (Prayagraj scope ) KP Singh told TOI,”working to a tip-off that six bodies have been discovered lying on the banks of the Ganga, a group of Fatehpur authorities reached the place on Sunday afternoon and delivered the bodies to get post-mortem examination” He maintained that the”retrieval of the bodies had nothing more to do with Covid-19″.
He said that the bodies have been highly decomposed and may have come floating in far-off areas.
Authorities said the final rites of the dead person were conducted at Bhitaura ghat according to semester.
The bodies couldn’t be identified.
Officials said that the safety level of Ganga had improved on Monday compared to Sunday and included they were keeping a close eye rivers and ghats.
