Varanasi: Three women and three children, all of the same family, was feared to sink when a boat was reversed on the Ganga River near Akhada Ghat under the Vindhyachal police station in the Mirzapur district on Wednesday.
The police then involves divers with nets to find lost women and children.
Vindhya Range RK Bhardwaj, Mirzapur District Judge Pravin Lakshkar, SP Ajay Kumar and other officials camped at Akhada Ghat to monitor surgery.
Dig said, “NDRF personnel and the flood relief team have also been called for search operations, which have been launched with locally available divers.” According to the police, one Rajesh Tiwari from the Ghuraha area in Ranchi of Jharkhand along with 11 family members and a driver had reached the vindhyachal to give prayer.
Before entering the temple, they reached Akhada Ghat to take a shower in Ganga.
Tiwari said that before they could start bathing, a boatman convinced him and his family to go to the banks of the river opposite on his boat to see and take a shower.
After bathing in the opposite bank, they rode to return.
While it began heavy rain and Tiwari asked the boatman to wait.
He accused that the boatman said that there was no problem that would be faced in crossing the river despite the rain.
However, when the boat reached the middle water began to seep on the boat and the boat was upside down.
Police said that in addition to Tiwari, Vikas (28), Deepak (27), ALKA (9), Ritika (7) and their drivers were saved by people and boats present near Ghat.
However, Gudia (28), Khushbu (30), Anisha (26), Satyam (5), a two-year-old girl and a three-month-old girl was drowned.
Busy efforts are being carried out to find women and children who are lost but because of strong currents in the river flow, the problem is being faced in search operations.
