Lucknow: Two fraudsters who posed as Treasury officials for retired Dupe government officials were arrested by Uttar Pradesh Cyber Cell on Sunday.
The five gang members they are still big.
The duo identified as the Mandal Pramod and Mantu Kumar Mandal have delayed several people in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Rajasthan.
Sleuth Cyber cells say that above alone the cheater has deceived innocent people of Rs 5 Crore in the past year.
They were arrested from Kolkata in West Bengal by Cyber Cell on Saturday night.
The police also recovered different SIM cards, Bank ATMs, Bluetooth sound systems, from ownership.
Dumka’s pramod in Jharkhand, and Mantu came from Dhanbad in the same district.
Cyber cells from the police were active after receiving complaints from retired retired police cheated.
Pensioner Chhote Lal was deceived by Rs 11 Lakh, while Ram Lakhan Chaudhary from Rs 10 Lakh, and Udayveer Singh from RS 10 Lakh was all cheated in a span of three months.
Not only police personnel were cheated but also retired officials from other departments.
Some similar complaints were reported in the Lucknow District Cyber cell unit, Hardoi.
In Lucknow, a retired secretariat official was deceived by Rs 53 Lakh.
Additional Director General of Cyber cells, Ram Kumar, said Pramod Mandal is the Mastermind who has 36 cases of retired Dupming retired officials.
Kumar also said the captured duo used to call their target while imitating themselves as treasury officers or officers who seek retirement and other benefits used by a retired employee of the department.
“In this way they easily deceive the target and use it to secure their ATM password or bank account details.
After that, the money was transferred in the e-wallet they reload,” Kumar said.
The official Privy of the police for the probe said that every member of the gang was given a particular job such as getting a fake bank account, the procurement of a fake SIM card, making a call to the victims, informing the police movement and for bank work to impose money obtained by tricks.
They are given part of the money according to the importance of their work.
The police said Pramod had formed a gang that hired several relatives and his distant relatives.
