New Delhi: Uttarakhand Minister of Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday launched the country’s first mobile warning cellular application that can remind users before the earthquake.
The path-breaking application is called ‘Uttarakhand Bhookamp Alert’ and has been developed by IIT Roorkee.
During the launch of the coast guard application at the Dhami Secretariat to the media that people must be told about such applications because Uttarakhand is quite vulnerable to the earthquake.
This project is sponsored by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority.
The following are important features of the application: 1.
This application uses an earthquake early warning (EEW), a real-time earthquake information system that can detect the emergence of earthquakes.
2.
This can issue a warning before a significant tremor holds an area.
3.
This application can also help tell the location of people trapped in the structure after the earthquake.
4.
This disseminates information about the occurrence of earthquakes, as well as the time of the arrival and intensity expected in the vibration location to prevent loss of life.
5.
It is compatible with the Android and iOS platform, and is available in two versions.
The IIT-ROCCEE is further explained in his press release that the physical base for the earthquake warning system is a seismic wave speed, which propagates after releasing stress from the cesarean movement.
“Strong land shocks caused by sliding waves traveling about half the primary wave speed and much slower than electromagnetic signals.
The EEW system exploits this advantage,” said an agency official.
