Uttarakhand HC: Civilization Judged How to treat a minority

Nanital: Democracy means minority protection, the Uttarakhand High Court on Friday when he heard two petitions on the prohibition of meat in Haridwar.
A civilization, the division bench added, was assessed only by treating minorities and prohibitions such as those in Haridwar questioning the extent to which the state could determine the choice of citizens.
“The problem is whether citizens have the right to decide on their own diet or will be decided by the state,” said Chauhan Hospital Chairman.
“If we say that it will be decided by the state because the state is allowed to impose a total prohibition on certain types of non-vegetable food …
then can power expanded to cover all kinds of meat?” In March, the state has stated all regions in Haridwar “free slaughter” and canceled no objection certificates were issued for slaughtering animals.
This challenging petition on two reasons – a blanket ban on any type of meat is unconstitutional, such as the Government of the Uttarakhand government has been included in the city up ACT, 237A, to provide its strength to declare an area under the city company, Board or Panchayat Nagar as a zone “Free massacre”.
On Friday, General Advocates (AG) SN Babulkar cited several considerations that supported the ban, including the 2004 Supreme Court of the decision to enforce the prohibition of meat and eggs in the city of Haridwar, Rishikesh and Muni Ki Reti.
He also played back Article 48 in directive principles, “State Steps must …
take to …
forbid slaughter of cattle and calves and other dairy and design livestock.” The distribution of chairman of the Chauhan and Justice Chief Justice Alok Kumar Verma said, “Democracy does not only mean the government by the majority but, the most important, democracy means minority protection.” He added, “The greatness of all civilizations is considered only in one benchmark and that is how to treat his minority.” The court further said it would not enter the religious aspects of this problem and, instead, focused on whether the constitution protected the privacy of citizens.
The applicant has raised this, said that the ban contradicts the right of privacy, the right to life and the right to be free of religious practices.
Orders, they added, was discriminatory Muslims in Haridwar, where areas such as Manglaur have a large Muslim population.
The court said the petition had raised “serious fundamental issues” and will involve the interpretation of the constitution.
It will not, however, can provide a verdict before burning-Eid-Eid, on July 21 The next trial is on July 23.
