New Delhi: Minister of Science and Technology Union Jitendra Singh on Monday said that Ultraviolet-C technology developed by the Ministry through the Organization of the CSIR-Central Scientific Instrument (CSIR CSIO) is truly effective for Coronavirus transmission mitigation and will also remain relevant in time Post-covid.
Disinfection technology has been successfully tried on the train, AC bus and even in parliament and is now open to launch to be used by the masses.
He said he would also recommend the same technology as the electoral commission to be used during the indoor polling meeting.
During the release of CSIR guidelines on various disinfection technology, the minister told the launch of UV-C technology in various places.
He, however, warned that even after the application of technology, all are advised to strictly adhere to the appropriate behavior of Covid, including the use of masks and social distance, the release of the Ministry.
Singh said the technology was developed in accordance with the requirements for the deactivation of the SARS COV-2 virus contained in aerosols with the necessary ventilation measures, security and user guidelines and tested for bio-safety security standards.
UV-C disables viruses, bacteria, fungi and other bio-aerosols with the appropriate doses using 254nm UV light.
The Minister said the UV-C airways disinfection system can be used in the auditorium, large conference rooms, classrooms and malls because it provides a relatively safe environment for indoor activities during covid pandemics.
Singh told me that this technology was used in the Hall of Parliament, Lok Sabha Chamber and the room committee in July last year ahead of the Monsun session.
He said he would write to the Secretary General of Rajya Sabha for the installation of this technology ahead of the upcoming budget session.
Executive Director of the Railroad Council A K Malhotra told that technology has been successfully tested for a month in train coach from Bandra to Chandigarh which covers a distance of 1,000 km.
He said the design of research and standard organizations, Lucknow, recommended the use of this technology in all train coaches gradually.
Amit Varadan, Together Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation & Jalan, said the technology has also been used in the AC bus from Uttar Pradesh State Transport Transport Corporation.
