New Delhi: The use of the Covid Vaccins Booster Shots remains calm amid a surge in omicron infected cases, even when India provides more than 55 lakh ‘doses of prevention measures’ against health workers and frontline along with old age over nine days since the rolls on January 10 10.
Vaccination among teenagers continues to grow well with more than 50% of those aged between 15-18 years covered with the first dose in just about 16 days.
Officials say while high infections among health workers and front lines coupled with fear of infection in vaccination sites may have prevent people from seeking third doses, vaccination options available at school.
Overall, almost 159 crore doses were given throughout the country until Tuesday.
These include 3.71 crore children aged 15-18 years.
According to government estimates, there are a total of 7.40 crore teenagers in this age category.
About 93.6% of adults have received at least the first dose of Covid vaccine, while 70.7% of people over the age of 18 are fully vaccinated with both doses.
“Another day, another milestone is more than 50 lakh health services & frontline and 60-year-old citizens or more have received a preventive dose, since January 10,” Mansukh Mandaviya Health Minister Mandaviya tweeted.
He urged all others eligible to take the earliest prevention dose.
According to government estimates, India has 1.05 crore health workers, 1.9 frontline crore workers and 2.75 senior citizens with comorbidity.
