Nagpur: repeating that covid vaccine is safe, city doctors have suggested residents with heart disease, chronic diabetes, taking anticoagulation therapy or only suffering fever so they should consult a doctor or cardiologist before planning Jab.
Patients who have recovered from severe Covid infection also need to accept their doctor’s opinions before vaccination, they add.
After the death of a 58-year-old man from the city two hours after he took the second dose of Covishield, TOI spoke to experts about how those who suffered any disease had to plan their vaccination and whether the deaths that occurred after the second dose could occur called bad events after immunization (AEFI).
The doctor said the anaphylaxis reaction (severe allergic reaction) rarely occurred and the opportunity to occur is one of a million.
But absolute contraindications and relative contraindications need to be evaluated before vaccination, experts argue.
Senior Pulmonologologist Dr.
Ashok Arbat said conditions such as heart problems, coagulation, allergies, asthma or even fever can trigger a virus.
“Those who have heart problems or under anticoagulation therapy must see their doctor before taking vaccines.
Having acute conditions must be informed to vaccinators too.
Even those who have severe Covid infections must consult with doctors before vaccination,” he said.
Dr.
Arbat said this vaccine was developed in a short time, but it was safe.
“We have no choice but to vaccinate to protect themselves from viruses.
We must be careful,” he said.
Intensivist Critical Care Dr.
Imran Noor Mohammad said there were two aspects of side effects.
“Absolute contraindications are allergic to vaccines or components.
Relative contraindications include ongoing fever, uncontrolled diabetes, known to be a high-risk coagulopathy case against blood clotting.
Therefore, before taking vaccines, patients like that must see a doctor or cardiologist,” he said.
Dr.
Mohammad added that evaluating safety, risk and benefits are also a must.
“If the benefits are higher, then you have to call according to the doctor’s advice.
The vaccine is safe.
Anaphylaxis reactions are rare and can occur immediately after taking jab.
These side effects are common with all vaccines.
Usually, AEFI does not occur unless the patient has the underlying condition,” he said.
Director of Orange City Hospital & Research Institute (OCHRI) Dr.
Anup Marar said there was a minimum contraindication for covid vaccination including history of bleeding and coagulation disorders, hypersensitivity to active substances or to one of the excipients in the vaccine.
“People with stable comorbid conditions are clinically able to accept Jab.
However, very unhealthy people must delay taking vaccines to protect themselves.
One of the specified side vaccination effects, although rare, is the highlight of the main blood in combination With low platelet counts.
Therefore, every patient with acute ischemia (reduction in blood flow which results in a decrease in oxygen and nutrient supply to tissues in the brain, heart or limbs) must prioritize their health needs and first treat themselves by specialists Qualifying before taking vaccines, “he said.
