Nagpur: The State Government allocates 50,770 covishield doses and 4,320 covaxin doses to the Nagpur district on Wednesday.
But because stock will reach Nagpur only at 6pm on Thursday, vaccination will be continued in government centers on Friday.
Vaccination will not be made for each age group in the central centers managed on Thursday.
Although private hospitals continue the paid drive in the city, vaccination is not carried out in NMC centers on Wednesday.
Only Covaxin will be available for 18+ and 45+ age groups at GMCH, Ambedkar Hospital Dr.
Babasaheb, Jalan Kamphee, and the NMC Date’s Date Prabhakarrao Health Center on Thursday.
On Friday, the Nagpur division will receive 28,000 covaxin and 92,770 doses of covishield and vaccination will be continued in the city and other parts of the division.
Vaccination continues in other parts of Vidarbha as usual on Wednesday.
In Akola, drive vaccination for pregnant and lactating women starts on Wednesday.
Deputy Director of the Akola Division (Health) Dr.
Rajkumar Chavan appealed to such women to be affixed.
“Vaccination is a very effective way to protect pregnant women from Covid-19.
Pregnant women and nursing mothers must take advantage of vaccination campaigns,” he said.
In Nagpur too, officials notify that the NMC will receive assistance from Obstetrics and Gynecology Nagpur (NOGS) to create awareness in women about vaccination.
Nogs officials told TOI that vaccination was safe and effective to expect and breastfeeding mothers and also provide protection to their children.
The Indian Midwifery and Gynecology Federation (Fogsi) also recommends vaccines as safe and effective for pregnant women.
