PANAJI: The state is set to make it mandatory for those who come in regular contact with children – such as staff of the Institute of Education – to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
CM Pramod Sawant said that those who did not comply would not be allowed to report to work until they received Jab.
“(I) lead a meeting of the task force to review the readiness for the third wave.
The government has received various suggestions from the expert committee, including mandatory vaccination for all people who come with regular contact with children under the age of 18, such as staff of educational institutions, “Sawant said.
The state will not let people who are not vaccinated report to work “for the safety of our children”, CM said.
Epidemiologists have warned that the third wave can hit the state in September.
Preparation for protecting children’s 4L and when experts say that there is a high probability that it will affect a large number of children.
Preparation is in the current state to protect the pediatric population before the third wave hit.
The country is looking at a pediatric population of around 3.5-4 lakh, including around 2.5 lakh children under 12 years.
Previously, the State Expert Committee decided that nursing mothers had children under the age of two years and women in the 18-44 age group that had comorbidities had to be vaccinated in priority, so their children were protected.
After this, the state is now targeting those who work with children, such as teachers, for mandatory vaccination.
