Vadodara: The 40-day-old baby has become possible the youngest patient to be treated for Covid-19 treatment at the SSG hospital managed by the government during the ongoing third wave.
Baby girl shifted to the Pediatric Department of SSG Hospital from the Jamnabai General Hospital.
The newborn and mother, residents of the Navapura area in the city, have tested the positive Covid-19 during the RT-PCR test.
“He was taken to us with complaints of diarrhea, severe dehydration and eating problems.
His mother was asymptomatic,” said Dr.
Sheila Aiyer, Head of the Pediatric Department at the SSG Hospital.
The condition of a baby girl is stable, said Dr.
Aiyer.
Earlier this month, an eight-month boy was dismissed after the full recovery of Covid-19.
Babies suffer from laryngotracheobitis or croup – Respiratory diseases of acute infection infections that are common in infants and children caused by laryngeal infections or trachea.
“He was accepted on 30 December.
We save it in respiratory support for three days.
He gradually weaned into the oxygen of the nose and then shifted to the general ward before being sent home to January 7,” he said.
Aiyer said that even as a Covid-19 case increased exponentially so far there was no worrying increase in hospitalization because of Covid-19 on the pediatric side of the General Hospital.
