Vadodara: A doctor from the city who now settled in Chicago was picked up for the Young doctor’s award this year by the Indian American Medical Association (IAMA).
The Tapan Parikh DR receiver is a child psychologist who has worked widely during the Covid-19 pandemic with children.
Parach, who chased the MBBS at the Swami Medical College Pramukh in Karamsad, was born and raised in the walled vadodara city.
He passed the 12th grade exam from a smart school in Karelibaug.
He moved to the US in 2008 and conducted an internship before pursuing a master’s degree in public health.
He also worked on cancer research at Cornell University before conducting residencies on public psychiatry from Cooper medical school from Rowan University and then a child and a teenage psychiatric scholarship at Northwestern University.
The Parikh is currently assistant professor at the Fienberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, Chicago and the medical director of acute care services from the Psychiatry Health Office and hospital behavior at Ann and Rober Hospital H Lurie in Chicago.
He has published or presented more than 50 research papers.
“This award is a recognition of the struggle that someone must do to be satisfied as a medical professional.
This is a recognition of this long journey.
This will keep me motivated to continue working in the future,” Parikh said.
He added that he believed that the award also recognized the work done to help children who were psychologically affected during the Pandemic Covid-19.
“Children have a very difficult time during a pandemic.
They must come to us instead of going to school.
Some even need drugs other than psychotherapy,” he said.
He added that he was also involved with various IAMA activities throughout the year.
