Vadodara: His excitement to get a ticket to enter his son in a private school in the city through the right to education (RTE) has been cut short when Sneh Gupta, a single mother, was asked to fill in their father’s name or face cancellation.
“I have lifted my sons alone without anyone’s support.
Every document of my children only has my name as a parent,” Gupta said after he was told about the ‘Norma’ at the District Education Office (Deo) on Wednesday.
“Why should I be forced to give the name of their father? He did not live with us and did not have a role in bringing up my children,” Gupta, the mother of two sons aged six years, said.
Gupta has been out of his marriage in 2013 and immediately after touching a friend.
They established relationships and in October 2014, he was pregnant.
However, it ended their relationship when a friend refused to be responsible if he delivered the baby.
Gupta decided to leave it than his unborn twin.
“I ended the relationship and chose to become a mother.
Since 2015, I have played the role of father and mother for my children.

Shivangi Shastri’s Inspector Education, however, explained that they had previously watched the cases of a single mother where the father’s father then appeared and questioned the school for giving his child without his knowledge.
“It puts us and schools in trouble,” he said.
“We have not refused the entrance ticket to the children of Gupta but asked him to submit his lectures or prepare a deed that stated that he was the only parents responsible for his children.
