Valley Barak Assam Closed above the Fracas border, Blogs Center

Silchar: Bandh Dawn-to-Dusk was summoned by the Democratic Front of the Barak (BDF) in protest against the murder of six Police Assam in Lailapur near the border of Assam-Mizoram in Cachar District on Monday paralyzing life in the Valley of Barak on Wednesday.
In Silchar, most commercial companies and other institutions are closed and the traffic comes out of the way.
The main locality such as Tarapur, ShillongPatty, Central Road, Sadarghat and Rangirkhari, which usually remain windy on other days, is really not inhabited.
However, in some rural areas, several shops are open.
In Karimganj and Hailakadi districts, Bandh was observed.
The strike was supported by many organizations, including student associations, cachar food grains Karimanj and the Food Association and the entire Indian United Democrats, among others.
Overall, 20 collectors were detained during bandh.
Reportedly there are no reports of unward incidents during the day.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Head of BDF Convener Pradip Dutta Roy thanked the people of the Barak Valley to extend their support and cooperation to Bandh.
The success of the strike proves that lay people in the valley want a permanent solution of border problems between countries, he said.
