Valparai man was injured in a bear attack

Coimbatore: Two days after a 36-year-old man was killed by a Bear Sloth, a 22-year-old man suffered severe injuries in a sloth bear attack in Valpaya on Thursday night.
The injured person was identified as Vasanth Prabhakaran from the Ayarpadi area in the city of Valpaya.
“He returned home from his sister’s house on foot around 10:45 a.m.
when the bear attacked him.
Local residents save people who were injured and rushed to the Polachi government hospital, from where he shifted to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH),” said A forest department official.
The Valparai K Jayachandran forest officer and the team conducted a sensitization program in the Ayarpadi area and the city of Valparai on Friday.
They asked residents not to come out after sunset and early morning.
Jayachandran also asked tourists not to explore the streets at night.
“We distribute pamphlets in the Ayarpadi area and Valparai City and ask people to work with the Forestry Department to prevent human-animal conflicts,” he said.
After the bear killed K Mohanraj, a resident of private coffee plantation at Villoni Lower Division on Tuesday around 8:30 a.m., the Ministry of Forestry had placed a cage to capture animals.
