Various government depts owe Hescom over ₹ 550cr

Hubballi: When people complain about high-power rates set by various electricity companies managed by the government throughout the country, it is not ironic that one of the power companies is faced with a fiscal crisis, despite tariff increases.
Among the main reasons for the Hubbali electricity supply company (Hescom) wrestling with the financial crisis is because it owed the bill cumulatively worth RS 556 Crore by various government departments – many of the bills circulating back to three years.
As a result, Hescom was struggling to remove his contribution to the corporate power generator owning an arrears worth Rs 129.1 Crore.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.
and other central government institutions owe Hescom almost Rs 6 Crore, while other state government institutions owe Hescom Rs 15.9 Crore.
Hescom has served a notification to government institutions several times, but there is no response to one of these requests.
The electricity company’s finance remains dangerous as a result.
Implementing Director Hescom D Bharati, “If the Government Department failed to resolve the delayed bill, the company’s financial burden would only grow.
Hescom must pay a number of Rs 4,591 Crore for purchasing power.” Hescom must pay Rs 1,476 Crore to the Central Electric Plant Station, RS 1,647 to Stations managed by the state, and RS 1,467 to private electricity companies.
Given his complicated financial conditions, Hescom was forced to take advantage of loans to remove his contributions to the power plant station.
The public, meanwhile, must take the cost of this loan, a source said.
MC Sindhur, an activist based in Hubballi, questioned the failure of the government to act against interesting institutions settled electricity bills.
“If the public fails to pay electricity bills on time, the power supply to the house is immediately stopped.
Why is the same rule does not apply to the government department? Hescom must start strict actions against these departments, and ensure that the maturing bill is paid,” Sindh said.
