Thane: A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly publishing a false vaccination certificate to nearly 20 people who are not vaccinated.
The defendant, Saurabh Singh, lives in Nalasopara and works at the vaccination center in Palghar.
Anti-extortion cell from the police Thane got a tip-off that Singh issued a fake certificate and a bait was sent.
He paid Rs 700 and made a certificate for him.
The police trapped him after he issued a certificate to the bait, said Police Inspector Sudhakar Humbe.
“Fake certificates bear the name of the Ministry of Health & Welfare of the Family, the Government of India, for two covishield doses.
Singh collected at least the RS 700 to issue the certificate and so far made a total of Rs 15,000.
He has been sent in police custody.
