VAX coverage: Punjab A Straggler in poll countries

Chandigarh: Punjab trailed behind neighboring countries Haryana, Himachal and UT from Chandigarh in achieving Covid-19 vaccination coverage in the region in the middle of the passemic acceleration in the plague of pandemic.
Even among the five states where the selection of assembly is scheduled to be held next month, Punjab has the lowest vaccine coverage after Manipur, where only 60% of the recipients have partially and 45% are fully vaccinated while the Covid situation is more or less similar.
Three states and UT, vaccination in neighboring Punjab is far ahead.
Since the beginning of the drive on January 16, Punjab has struggled to increase the coverage of the vaccine and even after one year of the state has managed to manage the first dose to 86.4% – 1,78.33,934 of 2, 06.55,301 – beneficiaries that meet the requirements in the age group 18 and above.
The average all-India of the first dose is at 92%.
Unlike Punjab, all its neighboring features among high-performance countries / UT with 100% coverage of the first dose.
Against the national average of 68% for the second dose, the state of Himachal Pradesh has provided a mandatory dose to 99.9% of its population which qualified 97% has been fully immunized in a beautiful city and 78% in Haryana.
Punjab, on the other hand, has managed both shots only for 51% of the beneficiaries of qualified.
Because vaccines reduce the severity of infection, hospitalization and opportunities for death, the central government and health experts have emphasized after carrying a qualified population under the coverage of the vaccine.
The trend that appears has shown that in many cases, Covid infection in lighter vaccinated people.
“Vaccines have proven to be a very effective rescue device against Covid.
To be comfortable placed, there is a need to cover at least 70% of the population with two doses,” said Dr.
Rakesh Kumar Gupta, the president of the strategic institution for public health education and research (Sopher).
He urged all who qualified to get vaccinations and authorities to cover the earliest left population proactively.
Among the polls, up, which has a higher population manifold than Punjab, has managed to provide both shots to around 53% of the population and the first dose to more than 90% of the qualified population.
In Uttarakhand, 99% has been given the second dose of the first and 82% when in Goa all the beneficiaries of qualified benefits have been given the first dose and 97% of the shot.
The Indian Election Commission (ECI) has been ahead of the pressure on increasing vaccination coverage in all states of the poll to conduct the election of ‘Covid Safe’.
However, after the National Health Mission (NHM) employee called for their two-month strike, the number of daily vaccinations has increased, after a special focus to immerse rural population.
In the past few days, the number of people attached to rural areas has been much higher than living in urban areas.
A total of 1,54,057 doses were given in rural areas compared to 1,13,199 in urban areas on January 10 while on January 11, the dose count in rural areas was 1,54,737 and 1.07642 in urban areas.
