Kolkata: Non-availability of vaccines force the KMC health department to maintain 102 covishield clinics and 50 mega covishield centers closed without limits.
Zero shares at Blackgunge Depot have forced the Civic Brass to close the 102 Covishield and 50 Mega Center clinics on Friday.
Vaccination in Kolkata fell to around 24,000 on Friday, which was less than half of the average number of vaccination during the past week.
Fighting to overcome the acute scarcity of the Covishield vaccine, KMC on Friday sent a special request to the State Health Department to send the earliest vaccine bottles so that the civil body could reopen the Covishield clinic and Mega centers.
According to the Ministry of Health, the consignment of 3.5 lakh doses of covishield is expected to arrive on Saturday.
6 Other Doses of Lakh Covaxin are also expected to reach Bengal on Saturday.
In accordance with state data, there are 15 doses of lakh on Friday, where 8 lakh is covaxin and the rest of the covishield.
Bengal received 1.7 lakh covaxin on 1 and 3 August Lakh Covishield on 3.
August “We hope to receive fresh stock on Sunday afternoon.
If we managed to receive a new supply of the Covishield vaccine, we have asked again, we will reopen all the clinics And our mega center.
Otherwise, residents wait for the covishield dose maybe longer, “said a KMC health department official.
However, the KMC continues to manage the dose of Covaxin from 38 clinics and the Cinema Roxy building.
“We have given around 13,000 covaxin doses of our clinic on Friday,” said KMC health department official.
Before the KMC decided to close the Covishield clinic on Thursday, each Civic Body’s 102 clinic was given 200 doses (average) every day for the past two weeks.
In addition, mega centers are given more than 400 doses every day.
The KMC official part associated with the vaccination process recognizes that ‘forced closure’ from the Covishield clinic and the mega centers will produce a large vaccine backlog.
