Mumbai: BMC will launch free vaccination for pregnant women from Thursday, even when private centers begin on Wednesday by vaccinating eight women.
General drives at first will begin at 36 centers that routinely offer ante-natal care.
Vaccination will be held for three hours on Thursday starting at 14:00 to 5pm, BMC said.
It is estimated that 1.5 lakh pregnant women will benefit from this.
The corporation has begun vaccination of nursing mothers on May 19 after passing the center.
Supplementary City Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that women will be given any information about risks if they are infected with Covid-19 and vaccination benefits.
The center has said that they can be vaccinated at any time during pregnancy, although the corporation has stated that women must make a choice of information about vaccination.
Women who have developed Covid-19 or have been treated with monoclonal antibodies or plasma recovery that can be vaccinated after 12 weeks, BMC said.
It has warned that after vaccination, some may experience lightweight fever, pain in injection or feel unhealthy for one to three days.
In rare cases, they may experience severe symptoms lasting up to 20 days after vaccination.
Dr.
Mangala Gomare, BMC executive health worker, said that they had chosen medical colleges, suburban hospitals, maternity hospitals and several government hospitals which routinely offered maternal care.
“The training needed has also been given to all the staff concerned about covid vaccination and pregnant women counseling.
We also ensure that when pregnant women come for the examination of their Christmas is declared fine,” he said.
The Ministry of Health Union on July 2 allows vaccination for pregnant women based on recommendations from the National Vaccination Technical Adviser Group.
The center has found that pregnant women are more likely to have severe infections with Covid-19.
The level of delivery is pre-different.
About 90% of pregnant women affected by Covid-19 do not require hospitalization.
In 10%, which has gestational diabetes, obesity, chronic respiratory disease, or heart disease, the risk of acute-19 acute infection increases.

Gomare said the city received a dose of lakh on Wednesday, but most of the centers would collect this in the morning.
On Wednesday, Footfall increased as 65,244 people came for shots.
The city has given a dose of 62.33lakh so far.
A special drive was held to vaccinate 81 female sex workers and transgender people on Wednesday.
