Ghaziabad: A gang of vehicle lifters was busted after its four members were arrested on Thursday.
Police said the gang used to snatch vehicles from people and other valuables after spotting them alone on roads.
The accused have been identified as Tinku alias Vishal Kasana, Aashu alias Deepty, both residents of Ghaziabad, and Rahul Bhati and Prince of Baghpat.
A few days ago, the accused stole a car and took it to Haridwar and used its FASTag at several toll plazas during the journey.
This helped police to track down the car and the culprits.
Abhay Kumar Mishra, circle officer, Kavi Nagar, told TOI that the gang is responsible for seven crimes, including robberies and theft, in the past six months in Kavi Nagar.
“The gang had stolen two cars, including a WagonR and a Bolero.
Apart from this, five robberies were committed by them after finding the victims in a desolate area.” The police have recovered the WagonR, Bolero, Rs 13,600 cash and a country-made pistol from their possession.
All four were booked under sections 379 (theft) and 392 (robbery) of the IPC and under the Arms Act.
