Chennai: Venkaiiah Naidu’s vice president on Saturday called for strengthening the shared family system and the tradition of respecting the elders, which is the core aspect of the values of nation civilization.
Underlining the important role played by the elders in the family in guiding and advising younger members, Naidu said intergenerational bonds help protect and promote the value system.
Official releases said he almost interacted with the elderly home inmates in Nellore (Bharat Trust) at Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of the Sankranthi festival.
He asked about the welfare of prisoners and facilities available for them.
He praised staff and trust officials for their initiative.
Reflecting the importance of the festival in Indian culture, Naidu underlines that young people must understand the importance of festivals such as Sankranthi in celebrating natural gifts, bringing family together and deliver peace and harmony in the community.
The vice president is currently in Chennai.
