LONDON: Former champions Venus Williams and Andy Murray are appointed at Wimbledon’s first collection of wildcards on Wednesday with the month grasscourt Grand Slam.
American Williams, who will turn 41 on Thursday, has won five from the seven Grand Slam singles titles at Wimbledon but has since shrunk to 103rd from the women’s world rankings.
She’s not made it beyond the opening round at any tournament because reaching the next round of the Australian Open in February.
Britain’s Murray won Wimbledon names in 2013 and 2016 however is now ranked 124th having suffered a spate of accidents in the last couple of decades.
Murray experienced hip repairs in January 2019 along with also his comeback has also become complicated by niggling injuries that have limited his involvement in championships.
