Max Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the first formula one title with the last lap overtake on Sunday to deny Lewis Hamilton’s championship rivals recording the eighth crown in a race full of controversy.
The Mercedes Hamilton team won the constructor title for the eight year in a row that was unprecedented, but Verstappen, 24, ensured it was no other double.
The final race began and ended with an argument – tears of joy on the one hand and anger on the other hand, Mercedes angry with Michael’s racing director Masi as the driver’s degree disappeared so close to the plaid flag.
