Ludhiana: The Livestock Management Department of Livestock Teacher Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gervasu) held a three-day training program on scientific pig agriculture for Punjab caste farmers under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) Scheme 12-b.
The training program, where 15 pig farmers participated, coordinated by Kulvinder Singh Sandhu and Subhash Chandra under the supervision of the Director of the Course and Head of the Yashpal Singh Department.
Training participants receive knowledge about scientific aspects of breeds, housing, and nutrients, in addition to pig’s health.
Farmers continue the journey of exposure to university pig farms for getting used to daily practice and routine activities such as handling, temperature recording, and cutting teeth needles.
The Welfare Director of Satyavan Students Rampal provides a certificate to the participants.
He said that this training would provide the scientific skills of the pig family to increase their income to produce quality meat for the market.
University products such as 25 kilograms of starter feed packages and mineral mixtures are also given to farmers to encourage scientific feeding.
