Shimla: Veteran Congress and Former Head of Minister of Himakal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh died at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Shimla Hospital in Wee Thursday.
He is 87 years old.
“Singh died around 4 in the morning.
After holding cardiopulmonary, he was declared dead,” said Dr.
Janak Raj Pakhretia from the hospital.
The former main minister was hospitalized on April 30 after recovering from Covid-19.
During the last two days, he experienced ventilator support after his health deteriorated.
Pakhretia said that after the body’s handle will be handed over to family members.
He said that Virbhadra Singh was tested positive for Covid-19 twice and recovered but then he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia.
The doctor said the former main minister could not recover from diseases related to other old age.
“After his health deteriorated, he shifted on the ventilator but could not recover.
We feel sorry that despite our best efforts, we cannot save his life,” added the doctor.
The son of late King Sir Padam Singh from the country of Bushahr, Virbhadra Singh was born on June 23, 1934 in Sarah at Shimla District Shimla.
He remained President (selected) from the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee in 1977, 1979, 1980 and from August 26, 2012 to December 2012.
He was chosen to be the third Sabha Lok in 1962, was re-elected to 4th Lok Sabha in 1967 from the Mahasu Constitution on In 1967, 5 Lok Sabha in 1971, 7 Lok Sabha in 1980, and 15 Lok Sabha (term 5) in May 2009 from the Lok-Sabha’s bath constituency.
He was elected for the state legislature in October 1983 (by election), re-elected in 1985 from the constituency of Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly.
In 1990, 1993, 1998, 2003 & 2007 from the Rohru Assembly constituency and in 2012 from the constituency of the Shimla rural assembly.
He remained Himachal Pradesh Cm from April 8, 1983, until March 5, 1990; December 3, 1993, until March 23, 1998, and from March 6, 2003, until December 29, 2007; Opposition leader in March 1998 to March 2003; And the Chairman of the Minister of State for the sixth time from December 25, 2012 to December 26, 2017.
He was re-elected to Thirtesh Vidhan Sabha (term 9) in December 2017 of the Constituency of the Arki Assembly.
