Vice President Venkaiiah Naidu called for multidisciplines in higher education

Chennai: Venkaiiah Naidu vice president on Wednesday called a multidisciplinary increase in higher education to produce knowledgeable individuals from the university and realize the full potential for our demographic dividends.
Speaking on the inauguration functions of the Satyanarayana Motorcur Center for further studies in Humanities at Kria University, Naidu observed that many career trajectories in the coming years will ask employees to have different knowledge in various fields.

Naidu also underlines the importance of updating students from the background of the Humanities with the latest technological developments for them to implement this progress in their research studies.

Appreciating college efforts such as IIT Bombay recently introduced interdisciplinary undergraduate courses that include liberal arts, science and engineering in one program, vice president suggests that other institutions must also explore multidisciplinary courses.
Expressing concern for the practice of learning to memorize in schools, Naidu appealed to parents to instill curiosity for art and literature in children from young age.
“In the competition to make it to the top national institutions of science and engineering, we ignore important subjects in schools such as language and social science”, Naidu commented.
