Visakhapatnam: Literature and poetry that focuses on social communities remain eternal and that is the reason why epics like ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Mahabharath’ continue to inspire all even today, said Vice President Naidu here on Friday.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebration of Visakha Sahiti, a literary organization, he observed that the literature was a vehicle where the greatness and glory of a country reflected and wanted writers, poets, intellectuals, and journalists to sacrifice the community both in all their writings and work.
He said the culture and tradition of a country played an important role in forming literature.
“We will be able to protect our culture if we preserve our people’s literature,” he said.
Referring to the wealth of Telugu’s language, he saam, “every aspect of our lives, including our clothes, food habits, festivals, customs and work are reflected by literature.” He said, “Protecting and preserving Telugu and other Indian languages will enable our cultural sustenance and provide guidance to future generations to map the right path.” Naidu expressed happiness for basic education given in Koya through Telugu scripts in 920 schools in eight Andhra Pradesh districts and praised the government and education department officials for this initiative.
He suggested to achieve proficiency in a person’s mother tongue before learning another language and urged parents to take steps in this matter.
Vice-President urged the author to pay special attention to children’s literature and advise them to find new ways to popularize the literature.
He recalled the contribution of famous writers such as Mullapudi Venkataramana and Chellha Deekshithulu to deliver home.
Naidu praised Visakha Sahiti for his efforts in popularizing Telugu literature.
