WASHINGTON: US Vice President Kamala Harris will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on September 23, the day before the bilateral meeting of the girl between him and President Joe Biden and the Quad Summit in the White House, officials said.
Biden will host Modi for direct bilateral meetings in the White House on September 24.
Then on that day, Biden would host the first quad leader in the White House with Modi, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
“The Vice President will meet with His Majesty Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India,” said a White House official to PTI.
This will be the first meeting between the two leaders.
Harris previously spoke with Modi by telephone during the Covid-19 crisis.
Harris was the first person to come from India to be chosen as Vice President of the United States.
During this week, when world leaders will gather in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, Harris, according to the White House, scheduled to hold a meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday, President Zambia Haicilema on Wednesday and President Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akoufo-Adddo on Thursday.
On Wednesday, he will also lead a session at the Virtual Covid Presidential Summit about rebuilding better and preparing and preventing future pandemic, according to a senior White House official.
