Nagpur: A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after the man accused of raping him was recently released from a guarantee in the city of Nagpur Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday.
The girl, who lived with her father, a stepmother and brother, allegedly hanging herself from the ceiling at her house in the Jaripatka area on Monday, said Senior Inspector Nitin Pharate from the Jaripatka Police Station.
According to the police, the girl was allegedly raped by the relatives of her stepmother in June, after the complaint of the police submitted and accused of being arrested, the official said.
The defendant, who was accused of rape, recently released with a guarantee of a central prison, he said, as he added that the girl had experienced depression since then.
The dead teenage body has been sent for post-mortem and the case of unintentional death has been registered, the official said.
