Riyas said the authorities concerned must ensure that officers who took such actions, as opposed to government policies, had to face music.

The police quickly defended the officers involved in the incident on Friday.
A few hours after the visual incident became a viral on social media, the Office of the City Police Commissioner issued a statement defending the officer.
The statement of the Commissioner said that the officers did not harass National Sweden and Steven voluntarily emptied bottle of liquor when the officer told him that he could not carry bottles of liquor without a purchase bill.
On Friday afternoon, Steven returned from the Corporation drink outlet in Vellar after buying three Foreign Liquor bottles India (IMFL) when the police team stopped him in Kovalam as part of checking the new year celebration and told him to throw the bottle.
Instead of throwing away the bottle completely, Steven chose to spill liquor and put empty bottles back to his backpack.
Then, he returned to the liquor outlet, collected the bill and produced it before the police at Kovalam station.
