Hanoi: Vietnam accelerated his vaccination program in an effort to loosen the limitation of locking Coronavirus in big cities at the end of the month, the government said Monday.
Health workers gave a vaccine all night in the capital, Hanoi, who had been under Kuncian since July.
More than one million vaccine shots were given during the weekend in Hanoi, from around 5.5 million it was managed there because vaccination began in March, the Ministry of Health said.
“We have to speed up the vaccination program so we can plan to reopen the city,” said Hanoi Mayor Chu Ngoc Anh Sunday.
More than half of the 98 million country populations are also under the lock.
About 80% of 5.7 million city adults have received at least one shot, with the authorities aiming to 100% at the end of this week.
However, the overall level of vaccination the country still remains low at around 28%, and only 4% have been fully vaccinated with both Jabs.
Vietnam managed to maintain the rate of infection relatively low until April this year, with only 35 deaths.
Last year it was praised for maintaining a virus to remain controlled, an achievement that was generally associated with discipline as a communist state single with strict control at all levels.
But the lack of vaccines forced Vietnam to slow down the vaccination program in recent months, even as a Delta variant of the virus was infected with more than 600,000 and killed more than 15,000 in just four months.
In the city of Ho Chi Minh, the hub of the nation’s business and was hit by a surge, more than 95% of adults had received the first vaccine, but many needed to come for the second dose could not get it because of low inventory.
Among the steps to overcome the shortcomings, the Vietnamese health authority has enabled a combination of two-dose two-dose vaccines to accelerate the vaccination campaign.
Experts say this tactic is likely to be safe and effective, but the researchers still collect data to ensure.
