Patna: Sleuth of the Special Precautions (SVU) on Friday raided four places of Samastipur Sub-Registrar Mani Ranjan and non-proportional assets (DA) worth more than RS 5 Crore collected by him.
Svu recovered Rs 73.5 lakh cash from three places Ranjan.
It was also revealed that Ranjan submitted an annual return of Rs 2 Lakh in the driver’s name and had 21 rooms in three-star category hotels in Brahmapura, main location in Muzaffarpur.
The hotel market value is estimated to be more than RS 20 Crore.
Svu, who has filed fir against the sub-registrar on Thursday, has knowledge of only Rs 1.62 Crore Da from Ranjan.
However, DA’s value increased to more than Rs 5 Crore after a raid conducted at his brother’s apartment in Patligram Apartment in Bajrangpuri near the Biscomaun roundabout in Kumhrar in Patna, Tusli Kunj in Samastipur and another house in Panchawati Lane in Kolhua Chowk and Flat in Muzaffarpur.
Sleart Svu has also raided his office in Samastipur.
Ranjan has joined the service in 2010.
Source said the Brother Ranjan worked in the State Government’s rural work department.
Sovu Sources said Rs 60 lakh cash recovered from Kumhrar, Rs 1.5 lakh from Samastipur and Rs 12 Lakh from Muzaffarpur.
Svu also found documents of two flats, including one worth 32 lakh, and two plots worth Rs 1.5 Crore from Kumhrar during the raid.
In Samastipur, Svu found Rs 1.5 lakh cash, Rs 8 Lakh stored in bank accounts and four expensive vehicle documents, including SUVs.
At Muzaffarpur, SVV restored Rs 12 lakh cash, documents related to Bramhapura hotels were given a finishing touch and store worth Rs 22 lakh at the Paras Mall.
“Vigilance people have learned about the property of not moving worth some crores collected by Ranjan in Kesarar when he posted there from 2018 to 2021.
Svu had received initial information about three plots and shops in Kathar,” said a senior officer.
The officer added that the team will soon be sent to Kesar for further investigation.
He said Ranjan washing money with his enactment by running at least six Shell companies in Patna, Katihar and Muzaffarpur and bought property with his wife’s name, brother, father-in-law, driver and other family members.
Sovu sources say further investigation will be made to find out where the names of houses in Samastipur and Muzaffarpur are registered.
